Recent Google Changes

Every time you figure out what’s going on with Google ranking patterns it seems like they change the rules again.

Just as well that at SEMS Consultancy we have been watching closely and can reveal the most recent Google changes!

It used to be the case that Google would index and crawl the internet every month or so and that rankings would change all at once.

However, the search engine giant has moved away from monthly updates to a constant reviewing process.

Ranking changes can now take place on an almost daily basis with the greatest changes happening during major ranking criteria updates.

The most recent Google changes are as follows:

1. Reciprocal linking (where Site A links to Site B and Site B links back to Site A in return) has been downgraded by Google. You would therefore be well advised to stop participating in link exchange programmes and instead to focus on developing your site’s natural link equity.

2. Google sitemaps are being used more frequently by Google to access the different pages on websites. We suggest that you develop a Google sitemap and upload it to your main site directory to boost the coverage of your web pages.

3. Google is looking for sites that have pages which are very easy to access. Therefore try and ensure that each of your pages is no more than one click away from your home page.

4. Google is clamping down on spam activity- BMW being a prime case in point. Therefore adhere to the engines webmaster guidelines and avoid any tricky schemes.

Google is working hard to deliver the most useful and relevant results possible to its users. By monitoring its ranking criteria we are able to understand what it is looking for so that we can make sure our clients offer valuable and useful information and get the rankings they deserve.
